Let me start with: hard work pays off. Working hard and striving for the best has always been my modus operandi.

But have you heard this Bill Gates’ quote?

“I choose a lazy person to do a hard job. Because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it.”

– Bill Gates

Laziness can inspire ingenuity. Take this for an example:

My roommate has been incredibly sick the past few days and has been coughing, sneezing, and more. With the design and space of the bedroom, she was unable to fit a nightstand by her bed. But, she knew she was going to need tissues next to her to get her through the night. She, a VERY hardworking girl, was about to get a table from outside the room to place next to her bed. Me, a very tired girl who didn’t have the energy to help her bring a table into the bedroom, found an easier way to keep tissues by her side.

Instead of dragging an outside table, I simply pushed out the dresser drawers that she keeps underneath her bed. My laziness unearthed this painless, effective solution.

So, while hard work is never a bad thing, laziness can provide efficient solutions that one may not have thought of. It’s all about finding a good balance between hard work and creative ingenuity.
