This past Friday I went to a very interesting event where I drove through a ‘jungle’ of large dinosaurs. Yep, dinosaurs lined the parking lot of Wells Fargo for Jurassic Quest.

Jurassic Quest is a huge, realistic dinosaur event where guests walk (or drive) through the Cretaceous, Jurassic, and Triassic periods. While originally a pop-up, indoor event, the creators transformed the dinosaur experience into a drive-thru. 70 animatronic dinos roar and move while vehicles drive their way through the tour. In addition, an audio component guide listeners through the different dinosaurs and entertained along the way.

As I said, I went last Friday. So impressed! I first learned of the event through a Philly event newsletter. This past week, my family had canceled vacation plans. So, why not? We purchased tickets online, and I drove all of us down.

You could see the line of cars from the highway, but they were extremely methodical. They divided cars into two delineated paths where we wove through the dinos. Also, they were careful with the audio tour, notifying us to stop the recording until we got to the next sign. That allowed the audio to align with the correct dinosaurs you were viewing. They had a creative storyline you followed that would be incredibly fun for little kids.

Overall, I thought this was a creative alternative for the pandemic. It was an enjoyable experience that seemed really well catered to guests. It felt like it was supposed to be a drive-thru originally. Jurassic Quest leaves Philly on the 20th. I highly recommend it if you have nothing to do this week. It may be in your city too after it leaves.

Regardless, Jurassic Quest had a great activation that was well executed despite a pandemic. It shows companies and organizations that through creativity, you don’t have to lose out.
